Honestly, it’s a personal decision, if you ask me.
When I started doing barre, EVERYONE wore socks. It was required at my studio. I remember there was a basket of extra socks that you could borrow if you forgot yours.
When we moved and I started going to a new barre studio, that was the first time I saw people not wearing socks and it totally threw me off. But I eventually got used to it, and I tried going barefoot myself.
I switch back and forth now. If it’s really hot, I won’t wear socks because it’ll only make my feet sweaty (gross, but true.) If the mat I’m using is a little slippery, I’ll put socks on so I have more grip.
So, at the end of the day, it comes down to whatever you’re most comfortable working out in.
